2021 Liquidity Rosé

On Saturday I picked-up my June flower subscription from Floral Support and I couldn’t resist photographing the 2021 Liquidity Rosé with some of these gorgeous blooms.

Did you know that the majority of the flowers we see for sale in the greater Vancouver area are imported from Europe and other countries? Floral Support is located in Langley and they purchase all of their flowers from BC growers, directly supporting BC farmers and our economy.

Check out Floral Support for monthly floral subscriptions (you can choose your colour palette), shop flowers online or in person, classes and basically all of your floral needs (weddings, events, etc).

There are enough flowers in the monthly subscription to create multiple arrangements, and here is one of the arrangements I put together this month.

I am such a sucker for peonies, but now onto the wine!

Liquidity is located in Okanagan Falls. Their first vineyards were purchased in 2008 by Ian MacDonald, an art collector and businessman. The already established vineyards were revitalized, a winery was built and a house on the property was transformed into a bistro and tasting room. Art from MacDonald’s personal collection was displayed at the winery along with collections from guest artists.

In 2020 Liquidity was purchased by Anthony von Mandl’s Iconic Wineries of British Columbia, which also includes Mission Hill, Martin’s Lane, CedarCreek, CheckMate and Road 13. The wines at Liquidity are now crafted by New Zealand born winemaker, Amy Paynter. Professing a love for Pinot Noir, Paynter has worked in New Zealand, South Africa and California before settling in the Okanagan.

2021 Liquidity Rosé $30.00

Just in time for International Rosé Day on June 25th, this wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir, grown specifically to make a Rosé. Grapes are hand sorted and gently whole-cluster pressed. A short amount of skin contact creates a beautiful, pale salmon hue. This wine is fermented in stainless steel. 530 cases were produced.

The 2021 Liquidity Rosé has a shy nose of blossom, pink grapefruit and underripe nectarine. This Rosé is dry, medium- in body with high acidity. On the palate saline mingles with delicate flavours of pink grapefruit, cranberry, underripe raspberries and sour cherries with a medium+ finish.

I feel this Rosé would benefit from a decant, as my notes were written after the bottle had been open for six hours. Do not serve it too cold, or you will miss out on its nuances. This wine is lovely on its own and it would be especially refreshing on a hot, summer’s day. Serve with salty, cured meats, delicate seafood or spinach and berry salad in a light vinaigrette.
