In an earlier post I mentioned that this year Moon Curser Vineyards is marking their 20th year in business. 2021 Syrah $32.99

Best of Category, Double Gold Medal – All Canadian Wine Championships.

Sourced from several vineyards in Osoyoos, the grapes were handpicked and sorted twice prior to de-stemming. The grapes underwent warm fermentation in 5000 L stainless steel fermenters with three, daily pump-overs. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in tank prior to aging in 225 L barriques (27% new Hungarian and French oak, 73% neutral oak). This is a filtered, vegan wine.

After two hours in the glass there are aromas of violet, black cherry, blackberry, liquorice pastels and hints of black pepper. This is a dry, full bodied wine with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. The palate offers black cherries, ripe blackberries, vanilla, liquorice, clove and hints of savoury black pepper with a medium+ finish.

2021 Border Vines $32.00

This red blend contains all of the Bordeaux grape varieties. It is a blend of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 14% Petit Verdot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 7% Malbec and 2% Carménère.

Sourced from several vineyards in Osoyoos, the grapes were handpicked and sorted twice prior to de-stemming. The grapes underwent warm-to-hot fermentation (dependant on the variety) in 5000 L stainless steel fermenters. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in tank prior to aging in 225 L barriques (25% new French oak and 75% neutral oak). This is a filtered, vegan wine.

After two hours in the glass there are aromas of cherry pie filling, sweet spice, vanilla and liquorice, followed by notes of black plum, dried blackcurrant, black pepper and cedar. This is a dry, full bodied wine with high acidity and medium tannins that are a bit grippy. The palate offers concentrated flavours of black cherry, clove, vanilla, blackcurrant, black plum, underripe blackberries, bramble and savoury black pepper with a long finish.

Silver Medal – 2023 Cascadia International Wine Competition.

A surprising blend of 52% Tannat and 48% Syrah.

Sourced from several vineyards in Osoyoos, the grapes were handpicked and sorted twice prior to de-stemming. The grapes underwent warm fermentation (partial co-fermentation) in 5000 L stainless steel fermenters with three daily pump-overs. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in tank prior to aging in 225 L barriques (29% new Hungarian and French oak and 71% neutral oak). This is a filtered, vegan wine.

After two hours in the glass there are aromas of black plum, black cherry and vanilla with hints of cardamom, cumin and sweet spice. This is a dry, full bodied wine with high, balanced acidity and medium+, well-integrated tannins. The palate offers black cherry, chocolate covered black plums, blackcurrant, cardamom, mineral notes, hints of cured meat, clove and cinnamon with a long finish.
