How do you feel about oak influence in your wine? I’ve had several wines recently that I feel were overly oaked, which made this Cabernet Franc from the Okanagan Crush Pad a welcomed pour.
The 2016 Narrative Cabernet Franc ($29.90) is a blend of Cab Franc grapes sourced from the Black Sage and Golden Mile Benches in Oliver, BC. This wine was fermented and aged in concrete tanks for nine months prior to bottling; there’s not a stitch of oak in it.
I let this wine evolve in the glass. On the nose there are notes of minerality, dried herbs, strawberry jam and cherry which follow through to the palate. The palate is bright and offers good intensity and a lingering finish. This Cab Franc is medium+ in body with medium acidity and medium- tannins.
