Here is another wine that offers great quality-to-price ratio: the 2016 Tres Picos Garnacha is $25.99.
This Garnacha is produced by Bodegas Borsao, which is located in Borja, in the north-east of Spain. Borja is in the province of Zaragoza, which is one of the three provinces that make-up the region of Aragón. Aragón is home to the DO (denominación de origen /denomination of origin) “Campo de Borja” which has been called the “Empire of Garnacha.
Tres Picos is made from vines grown in mountain vineyards; the vines are 35 to 60 years old. At an elevation of 600-700 meters the vines grow in soils described as “stony, slimy soils with clay and limestone.” (1)
Maceration takes place over 20-25 days and fermentation is in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in new French oak barrels from Bordeaux for five months.
Although drinking well from the first pour, a bit of a decant did not do it any harm. After two hours in the decanter there are aromas of cherries, prunes, leather, cedar and hints of vanilla.
One of the things that I love about this wine is the texture of the fine, velvety, medium tannins. The body is medium+ and the acidity is also medium+, but it is balanced by the fruit on the palate.
This wine offers flavours of sour cherries, black Italian prune plums, leather and even fresh raspberries on the lingering finish.
Yet another wine that I have gone back to several times over the last couple of months and I would definitely consider it to be #caseworthy

Will add this one to my list!
This is another wine I have tested several times for quality assurance purposes 😉
I carry your recommendations on my phone. I appreciate your sharing the process of growing the grapes and producing the wine. This wine is on my list of buy again.
