I find the best way to expand my aroma and tasting vocabulary for wine is to really pay attention to what I smell and taste when I eat.
This weekend I focussed on peaches, exploring the scent and flavour of peach skin, peach flesh, peach pits, grilled peach and even baked peaches with baking spice.
Peach aromas and flavours are abundant in the fruit-forward and juicy 2018 Viognier (vee-OWN-yay) from Road 13.
2018 Road 13 Viognier $25.99
The fruit for this wine came from Road 13’s West Osoyoos Vineyard where the grapes were hand-harvested. After being hand-sorted and pressed, fermentation took place slowly in stainless steel tanks. The finished wine was then aged for 4 months in French Oak Barrels.
The 2018 Road 13 Viognier has aromas of jasmine, peach, apricot and crushed gravel with hints of mango. This wine is dry and medium+ in body with medium+ acidity. The delicious palate offers jasmine, peach, dried apricot, mango and ginger with a lingering finish.
Road 13 Vineyards is open for tastings daily from 10:00-6:00 with a reservation. They are also offering complimentary shipping on orders across Canada (no minimum order required).
