Another great summer wine to beat the heat this week. The Bottega Rosé Gold Brut works well as an aperitif or pair it with light and refreshing summer fare, including sushi and Niçoise salad.
Rosé Gold Brut $32.99
The Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) for this wine was grown in Lombardy, Italy; it was hand-picked and destemmed. The grape must was left in contact with the grape skins for 24 hours, producing a beautiful, pale salmon colour. The must was gently pressed-off the skins and fermented. Secondary fermentation was carried out using the Charmat Method, after which the wine was left on the lees prior to filtering and bottling.
This wine has a shy nose of blossom, peach pits, pink grapefruit rind and strawberries. This is an off-dry sparkling wine with a fine, foamy mousse and medium+ acidity. The palate offers blossom, Pink Lady apples, strawberries, cream and red cherries, with ripe nectarine on the medium finish.
