What wines do you always make sure to have on-hand for holiday entertaining?
At $18.99 the 2018 Cedarcreek Estate Grown Chardonnay is a great wine to add to the list. I enjoyed this wine alongside rigatoni with turkey sausage, mushroom, parmesan and kale. It would also pair well with cream sauces or poultry with sage stuffing.
This 2018 Chardonnay sports a stunning new label from Cedarcreek, which marks the expansion of their organic practices. The colours on the new label “are a homage to the rich natural tapestry…amber for the powerful sun, blue for the expansive lake, and green for the intertwining canopy of [decade-old] vines.” (Catherine Douglas, Marketing Manager at Cedar Creek)
Fermentation of this wine took place over 115 days in both French oak barrels and foudre (a large oak vat that often holds close to 1000 litres), followed by a further ten months in French oak barrels (76%) and oak foudre (24%).
This wine offers aromas of hard lemon candies, lemon yogurt, white peaches, stones and hints of buttered graham crackers.
This is a fairly full bodied, creamy Chardonnay, but it also has a juicy acidity which makes the palate vibrant and somewhat savoury.
Flavours of lemon follow-through to the palate alongside yogurt and buttered graham crackers with notes of stone fruit on the lingering finish.
