What foods do you like to enjoy alongside an oaked Chardonnay?
When in doubt, you can always pair it with a bowl of buttery popcorn. Pasta with a creamy sauce, such as Carbonara or Alfredo, also works well, or try pairing it with mushroom risotto. We enjoyed the 2020 Liquidity Reserve Chardonnay with bacon, caramelized onion and sun dried tomato potatoes au gratin.
2020 Liquidity Reserve Chardonnay $55.00
The grapes for this wine were partially sourced from 28 year old vines in Okanagan Falls and accented by fruit from Jagged Rock vineyard on the Black Sage Bench in Oliver, BC. The grapes were hand-picked and lightly pressed prior to fermentation in French oak. This wine underwent partial malolactic fermentation with lees stirring.
The 2020 Reserve Chardonnay from Liquidity has aromas of blossoms, lemon, peach pits, pineapple, baking spice and buttered graham crackers with a touch of honey. This is a dry white wine, medium in body with high acidity. The palate is textured, offering notes of lemon, peach, nectarine and coconut Greek yogurt with grapefruit pith and salinity on the medium+ finish.
Liquidity is located in Okanagan Falls. Their first vineyards were purchased in 2008 by Ian MacDonald, an art collector and businessman. The already established vineyards were revitalized, a winery was built and a house on the property was transformed into a bistro and tasting room. Art from MacDonald’s personal collection was displayed at the winery along with collections from guest artists.
In 2020 Liquidity was purchased by Anthony von Mandl’s Iconic Wineries of British Columbia, which also includes Mission Hill, Martin’s Lane, CedarCreek, CheckMate and Road 13. The wines at Liquidity are now crafted by New Zealand born winemaker, Amy Paynter. Professing a love for Pinot Noir, Paynter has worked in New Zealand, South Africa and California before settling in the Okanagan.
