I love being introduced to new wines that offer good quality-to-price-ratio; the Louis Bouillot Crémant de Bourgogne Rosé Perle d’Aurore is one such wine. It is currently on sale at BC Liquor Stores for $24.99 until June 5th, 2021. This traditional method sparkling wine would make a great addition to brunch or pair with a charcuterie board.
Louis Bouillot is located in Burgundy, a French wine region known for producing age-worthy Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In 1975 Crémant de Bourgogne was established as an AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée). This AOC covers a large region, including Burgundy, Chablis and even Beaujolais, providing access to a range of quality grapes for blending. Crémant de Bourgogne are sparkling wines made using the traditional method of second fermentation in the bottle, the same method used for making Champagne.
Perle D’Aurore Brut Rosé $24.99
This wine is a blend of Pinot Noir, Gamay Noir and Chardonnay. The Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir underwent a short period of maceration to achieve this beautiful, pink hue. Each wine was fermented separately and then blended to form the final cuvée. The Perle d’Aurore was made using the traditional method and spent 12 months on the lees prior to disgorging and dosage at 12 g/L.
This sparkling wine has aromas of crisp, flaky pastry, baked apples, strawberries and yellow grapefruit pith. It is off dry with medium+ acidity. The palate offers mandarin rind, strawberries and biscuit with a medium finish.
Agreed! I LOVE this one!
You introduced me to Crémant de Bourgogne – thank you! 🥂
