The 2019 Moon Curser Roussanne Marsanne, with its notes of pear and ginger, left me itching to bake something with this year’s pear harvest.
2019 Roussanne Marsanne $26.99
The grapes for the 2019 Roussanne Marsanne were hand-picked and sorted twice, followed by whole-cluster pressing. The Roussanne and Marsanne were co-fermented (70% Roussanne and 30% Marsanne) 75% in stainless steel and 25% in new French oak barrels. The portion of wine in oak was lees stirred once per day, three times per week; it also underwent malolactic fermentation and remained in barrel for four months before bottling.
This wine has aromas of white pepper, ginger, pear, apricot and buttered graham crackers. This is a dry, medium bodied wine with medium+ acidity. The palate offers juicy, ripe pears, white pepper, and ginger, with lemon, tangerine, butter, toasted almonds and dried apricots mingling on the mid-palate and towards the lingering finish.
