There is some really beautiful Sauvignon Blanc coming from the Okanagan these days, including this one from Play Estate Winery in Penticton. I had fun pairing this wine with my favorite fish cake recipe from Donna Hay, served with garlic and caper mayonnaise. This wine would also pair very well with sushi.
Play Estate 2019 Sauvignon Blanc $22.00
The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc from Play Estate was fermented using both wild and carefully selected yeasts. It was matured for several months in 75% stainless steel and 25% new French Oak. Only 100 cases were made.
This Sauvignon Blanc offers aromas of pear, tarragon, crushed gravel and blossom. It is a dry, medium body wine with medium acidity. The palate has flavours of lemon, white peach and dried grass with a lingering mineral and almost smokey finish.
Play Estate Winery is open for tastings seven days a week and their Bistro is open for dinning from Wednesday through Sunday. Check out their website for a full list of hours or to make a reservation.
As usual gorgeous photography. Made me want to cook and drink wine.
Thanks Mia – it’s a lovely wine and a great recipe from Donna Hay 👌🏻
I have not had this one but it sounds great! I like that there is a bit of oak in the story. Wonderful photography as usual. That fish cake and vino pairing is very appealing!
