Ramification Cellars: Verification Pinot Noir

Ramification Cellars is a family owned winery located on the shores of Vaseux Lake, in Oliver, British Columbia. Don Lloyd and his daughter, Rachel, purchased the property in the late 2000’s and began planting Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir in 2013. Since the original planting, both Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc vines have been added. This means that we will see a Sparkling Rosé and an unoaked Chardonnay added to their portfolio this year. In 2022 expect to see a Port-style wine and a Cabernet Franc join the lineup.

Ramification Cellars is a small winery, with only four acres of vines, which are biodynamically managed. The wines themselves are produced offsite. The first vintages were made at Lang Vineyards, but since 2019, Ramification Cellars have partnered with 3 Sisters Winery in Naramata.

Don and Rachel named Ramification Cellars after the California Big Horned Sheep, which are abundant in the Vaseux Lake area. The winery opened its doors to the public just last summer and they look forward to welcoming more wine lovers this year for a relaxed, lakefront wine experience.

2018 Verification Pinot Noir $30.00

Verification Pinot Noir was created using select parcels of estate-grown fruit, specifically Dijon clone 667 and 777. Only 245 cases were produced.

After an hour in the decanter this Pinot Noir has aromas of sweet vanilla, strawberry jam, cherry, black plum, liquorice and black pepper. This is a dry, medium bodied wine with medium+ acidity and medium- tannins. The palate offers cherries, cranberries, plums, cedar and black pepper, with a lingering, savoury, mineral finish.

Verification Pinot Noir makes a great match for mushroom and arugula pizza.
