I recently placed my first order through SPUD.CA and I was so impressed with the quality of the produce. I ordered an array of fresh, local mushrooms – chanterelle, oyster, cremini and even lobster mushrooms. I used these beautiful fungi to create a fall mushroom ragù which paired beautifully with the Joie PTG I ordered.

2018 JOIE PTG ($32.99 through SPUD.CA)
PTG, or Passe-Tout-Grains, is an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) – a wine region in Burgundy, France. This region produces wines from a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay, although there are several other grape varietals that are also permitted.
The 2018 JOIE PTG is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Gamay. The fruit was hand-picked from two vineyards in Naramata. The grapes were hand-sorted, crushed, de-stemmed and then fermented in open-top, 500L fermenters and French oak casks. Post fermentation, the wine was pressed-off its skins, settled for 24 hours and racked to barrel before undergoing malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged for ten months on its fine lees in neutral barriques and puncheons. The 2018 PTG was aged for 18 months in bottle prior to release.
This wine offers aromas of cranberry, red cherry, plum and white pepper. This is a dry, medium bodied wine with high acidity and low tannins. The palate delivers smoky, bright red fruit (cranberries, cherries and plums), which mingles with white pepper, minerality and salinity on the juicy, savoury, lingering finish.
Pair this charming wine with a charcuterie board this holiday season, or serve it alongside salmon or mushroom dishes.
