Tantalus 2019 Blanc de Blancs

I think my favourite sparkling wine this year has to be the Tantalus 2019 Blanc de Blancs.

This wine was made from a single block of Chardonnay that was picked on September 3rd, 2019. The base wine was fermented in seasoned puncheons and barrique and then aged on the lees until May 2020. Made in the traditional method, this wine underwent secondary fermentation in the bottle and was aged for 22 months prior to disgorgment in March 2022. The bottles were then topped-up with a 4 g/L dosage of the Tantalus 2019 still Chardonnay.

2019 Blanc de Blancs $31.30

Aromas of freshly baked brioche, green apple and lemon pith. This is a dry wine with a fine mousse and medium+ acidity. This sparkling wine tastes like the time my Dad made me pancakes topped with sugar and lemon juice when I was a kid, followed by notes of green apple, tangerine rind and lemon pith with a salty and savoury, medium finish. This sparkling wine is definitely #caseworthy and perfect for the holidays.
