Terravista Vineyards: 2019 Albariño

Do you know that some wineries in the Okanagan produce Albariño? Albariño is a white grape varietal that is widely found throughout Spain and Portugal.

At Terravista Vineyards, the Albariño is grown in granitic soil, which keeps the roots, that are prone to rot and mildew, well drained and dry. The 2019 Albariño from Terravista is their fifth vintage of single varietal Albariño. It is produced using fruit from their home vineyard on the Naramata Bench (69%), with the remaining grapes coming from the Gravelbourg Vineyard in Oliver (31%).

2019 Terravista Vineyards Albariño $25.00

This Albariño offers aromas of peach pits, blooming clover and crushed gravel. It is a dry, medium bodied wine with refreshingly high acidity. The palate offers juicy pear at first, then bright flavours of lemon and lime take over. Peaches make a return on the long finish accompanied by herbaceous beeswax and mineral notes.

Although I enjoyed this wine right out of the bottle, I think it could benefit from decanting, as it was drinking extremely well on the second day.

August 1st is Albariño Day, so get your bottle ready now!

Terravista Vineyards is currently offering tastings by appointment and free shipping on six bottles or more.
