For me, one of the best parts of summer is when our garden starts producing fruits and vegetables and we begin to see our hard work pay off. I am a bit of a lazy gardener in that I prefer to grow plants that flourish with minimal intervention. I am not one to struggle with aphids, cabbage moths and powdery mildew, so I stick with tomatoes, garlic, lettuce, cucumber and beans. There is truly nothing better than a tomato and bacon sandwich made from the first heirloom tomato of the season!
With less than a month of summer left, here are some wines from Quails’ Gate to accompany your late summer recipes made with fresh, local produce.
