2018 Trimbach “Classic” Riesling

Have you ever tried a wine that you were not exactly sure about in the beginning but it won you over in the end? The 2018 Trimbach “Classic” Riesling did that for me.

I had this wine stored in the refrigerator and it was far too cold when I first approached it, with little-to-no nose or palate. As the wine warmed-up in my glass though, it began to release some captivating aromas and flavours.

The Trimbach “Classic” Riesling has delicate aromas of passionfruit and petroleum. It is a dry, medium bodied wine with medium+ acidity. The palate offers underripe passionfruit, Pheonix Oolong tea, mandarin rind, savoury lemon and crushed gravel, with red apples on the lingering finish. Available for $33.99 at BC Liquor Stores.

Trimbach is located in Alsace, France and has been a family run winery for three centuries, across thirteen generations. The vineyards for this Riesling were personally selected by Pierre Trimbach. The grapes were harvested in late October and fermented in stainless steel and concrete tanks. This wine received some bottle age prior to release.

A big thank you to Ashleigh Born at Waxwing Florals for curating the beautiful blooms for this shot. Ashleigh is currently working on gift sets for Mother’s Day, but after May 19th she will return to working on a project that is near and dear to her heart, the Flower Aid Project.

The Flower Aid Project was designed to bring joy into our homes as we navigate through these strange times and endure physical distancing. The project seeks to aid our local florists and farmers while bringing consumers beautiful buckets of blooms at the wholesale price of $50. Check out www.waxwingflorals.com for more details.
